Literature Text
From my mouth spills a wretched silence
while my heart seeks the words to gather
behind my eyes, the snow is falling
for before them, I've lost my anchor
now the darkness, I hear it calling
and of the light, it will not answer
no limbo this! I feel us aging
yet time stands still before this altar
I pray for wind to uplift your wings
I curse the earth in which you'll slumber.
As I curse the earth, I am accursed
for behind my eyes, the snow is falling
and before my eyes, a season falls.

That little bonus
of my heart on your chest
makes me seem less forgotten
fractured, unspoken
yet I keep dreaming wide awake
of your head resting upon my breast
and my shallow breath
worrisome as we wait
for light leaks in photo trays
of grey cloud engulfed skies
yet all I can see
are cold cracked windows
on damp walls, written in mandarin
as rain bounces off of floors
in the empty gardens of shame
I'm shielded by soot covered wings
wishing for whispers
sweet nothings from a dove tree
I fear dreaming a dream
where I lose it all

They say a place exists for those who are lost. Perhaps it exists, and maybe it really doesn't. But I know I have caught a glimpse of something that could be that place. It hovers just between waking consciousness and sleep, somewhere that isn't touched by everyday life. And at the same time that place is subtly affected by that life.
It is a garden, a walled city, a cradle of life high in the mountain peaks. Four towering sentinels of stone topped with ice that could cut open the sky protect this place. Sunlight and starlight play on the ice, creating a mercurial rainbow. In the center of the hollow basin is a walled cit

Type of Poem: Parallelismus Membrorum
Prompt: "It's snowing!"
Prompt: "It's snowing!"
A Parallelismus Membrorum has lines of parallel construction and presents antitheses and complementary extensions. The lines are usually short and contain three or four words. There is no requirement for rhyme, meter, or length.
Once again I feel dissatisfied as to my adherence to the chosen form, but this time, I think I managed to write a good poem in spite of it. I used a repeating rhyme for the even lines in the first stanza and then for the coda (concluding section) I used a single line internal parallel construction in order to get the three-line stanza I wanted. This is dedicated to my father and how I still feel about his loss to this day. It's funny how strongly people can imprint on your memory and who you are and try to be, even with so much distance between you and them. I love you pops.
This is my third submission for the December Form Challenge 2013 from #ProjectDFC. You can read the rest of my entries here.
Friendship was my parallelismus membrorum from DFC 2012.
It's never too late is another poem dedicated to my father, which received a DD on 12/26/2012.
